Artist websites: How to Start
Our initial set up service is designed to help you get a website up quickly with live support. For a small fee, you can make sure that your site is up and running the way you want it.
What You Get

- Initial setup of your site:
- up to 10 pages (you must supply the text)
- up to 30 images (you must supply the digital images)
- Your own domain name for one year that will display your site when people enter it into their browser
- Your own web site with up to 100 total items. Includes:
- text pages
- gallery pages (with gallery tour)
- list pages (with links to list item pages)
- contact form pages (mails to your address)
- images with their own detail pages
- One Hour of Training on how to use the site and upload images yourself.
- After the first year, the fee to keep the site going is $29.99/month or $299.90/year.
What You Must Provide
- Images (up to 30)
- In any of the following formats: .jpg .gif .png .tif .bmp. (We will convert what you give us to jpg format for display on your site.)
- The original images must be cropped and the color, brightness and contrast should be set as you want the image displayed.
- We will not crop or adjust the image for you as we do not know the appearance of the original work.
- Original images should not be over 3MB in size.
- We can use images of any dpi greater than 72, but the images will ultimately be displayed on the website at 72dpi. This is a lower resolution than print, which ranges between 300 and 2400dpi. On the web, resolution is lower for speed in loading, but generally there is not a significant loss in image quality for monitor display.
- The original image dimensions are not important -- the image will be scaled down to 600 pixels wide (width in inches varies with monitor) with the height varying according the original image proportions. 600 pixels width is used so that the image can fit into the site templates. You can easily change the image size and thumbnail size for your site once the images are uploaded.
- With all that in mind, your images will be jpgs displayed at 72dpi at the size you specify (no greater than 600 pixels wide).
- Text Pages (up to 10 pages)
- Please provide the text in an MSWord document with all of the pages in one document. If you don't have MSWord, you can put the text inthe body of an email. You have to write the different pages, but they can be changed by you at any time through the site management tool. Common Pages are:
