Site planning
Site planning involves pulling together all of the pieces of the site so that it can be designed and coded. It is critical to think through the different pieces of the site before design and coding begin, although changes in the plan inevitably occur during the implementation process. The key issues to think through in advance are:
- General Appearance and Architecture
- Navigation
- Content (text and images)
- Functions (Forms & Database Functions)
- Search Engine Optimization Issues (Key Phrases)
Once the planning process has occured, the client will be able to deliver the following key pieces:
- Design Elements
- Logo
- Color Scheme
- Architecture
- Navigation & Flow
- Navigation list (or menu)
- Sub Navigation elements (for less important site areas)
- Content
- Images
- Animations
- Final Text
- Page Count
- Functions
- Specifications for any special functions on the site
- SEO Issues
- Key Word and Description Tags
- Other SEO requirements
- Phased implementation plan (for larger sites)
